# Why register your company in Bulgaria

Bulgaria taxes company profit at 10% and the owner's dividend at 5%. It has been in the EU since 2007, a full Schengen member since 2025, and uses the euro since 1 January 2026. We register your EOOD or OOD for €199.

- EU member since 2007: the single market, an EU VAT number and VIES.
- A full Schengen member since 1 January 2025.
- The euro has been Bulgaria's currency since 1 January 2026: no currency risk within the euro area.
- 0% withholding tax on dividends paid to parent companies in the EU and EEA (Corporate Income Tax Act, Art. 194).
- The lowest price level in the EU: 63% of the EU average (Eurostat, 2025).
- The lowest labour cost in the EU: €12 an hour against an EU average of €34.90 (Eurostat, 2025).

## What you should know

- Tax follows where the company is really managed. If you run it from another country, that country may tax it.
- As a person you pay tax where you live. The 5% is a final tax only for Bulgarian residents.
- An owner who works in the company pays social security: at least about €172 a month from 1 August 2026.
- The manager's signature is certified by a notary, and the bank decides whether and when to open an account.
- The company keeps double-entry books and files an annual return and accounts. That is what we do, from €17 a month.
